MILITARY:
Revolutionary War as Chaplin. Chaplin with rank of Major 2/24/1784
"Certificates of Service in American Revolution" p 129.
PROPERTY:
Silas received 2 draws in the 1832 Cherokee Land Lottery as a married man with
a family and 2 draws in the Gold Lottery as a married man with a family. Land
lots were 160 acres 2640 ft sq and Gold lots 40 acres 1320 ft sq. for a total
of 400 acres. He also received 650 acres for service in Revolution for being a
refuge.
